Project Report for Anupgarh Fort, Hanumangarh
Description
In 2024, Sarvrakshan Foundation was commissioned by Anupgarh Nagar Palika to prepare a detailed conservation roadmap for the historic Anupgarh Fort, situated near the western border of Rajasthan. Despite its historical and strategic significance, the fort has long remained neglected and undocumented.
The project began with thorough archival research, oral history collection, and architectural analysis. On-site, we conducted comprehensive condition assessments, high-resolution photography, and digital architectural mapping. Engaging with local authorities and community members was central to understanding site-specific needs and expectations.
The final report outlined a phased conservation strategy—beginning with urgent structural stabilisation and followed by cultural revitalisation and potential adaptive reuse. The plan emphasised the use of traditional materials and locally viable practices, making the project sustainable and community-inclusive.
This initiative reflects our pragmatic, context-driven approach to heritage conservation—one that balances historical authenticity with real-world applicability.
